After much anticipation….. On May 6, David Lang hosts the winners of his piano competion at (le) Poisson Rouge.
The winner, Peter Poston, performs his winning-version of Lang’s solo, wed; Andrew Zolinsky, who recorded Lang’s memory pieces recently on Cantaloupe; Zolinsky and Poston premiere a new work for piano-four-hands; and the runners-up premiere a new work for piano-six-hands.
This is a not-to-be-missed event!
From September 19-21, David Lang is the composer-in-residence at the Carlsbad Music Festival, with his music being featured throughout the festival, including the US premiere of his choral work when we were children, performed by Sacra/Profana.

Imagine that you’re a composer. Imagine getting this commission: ”Please write us a song that will allow family members to face the death of a loved one…” Well, composer David Lang had to do just that when a hospital in Garches, France, asked him to write music for their morgue, or ”Salle Des Departs.”
